A tree with a tale, discovered in 1870 by an Innkeeper growing in the thatch of his pub, the Hardinge Arms in King’s Newton, Derbyshire. The Innkeeper transplanted the tree into the garden where it survived until the 1940s bearing regular yields of apples for the Inn’s kitchen. Best picked mid-October, this variety is considered dual purpose; cooking to a creamy juicy puree or if left in store to mature, it will make a brisk fruity eating apple. A February favourite for pies or savoury salads.

Flowering group D (Mid)

MM106 rootstock gives a semi-dwarfing tree that will reach 4m in height. It will start fruiting at 3-4 years.
