A  historically important apple, it’s name first recorded in 1676, but reference to ‘Quarendouns’ is made in a middle English west country poem dated c1450.  Often regarded as the perfect English summer apple, with a strawberry flavour sweet balanced with plenty of acidity, the red skin bleeding into the crisp flesh. Widely grown in the Victorian era, it was claimed to grow in perfect health “from Devonshire to the Moray Firth”. Pick and eat in August as it won’t store long.

Flowering group B (Early)

MM106 rootstock gives a semi-dwarfing tree that will reach 4m in height. It will start fruiting at 3-4 years.

Tree comes as a maiden whip (1 year tree with no branches). The trees are bareroot, so the tree will arrive with bare roots (without soil) wrapped up ready for planting out or heeling in. Available only in dormant season (November-April).
